“Riga Food 2010” – The Biggest Food Industry Event in the Baltic’s

From 8 to 11 September, the International Exhibition Company BT 1 presents the 15th International Food Industry Trade Fair “Riga Food 2010” – a significant event for the food industry that gathers a great number of international participants, presents national collective displays uniting numerous enterprises looking for cooperation partners in the Baltic countries.

“Riga Food” is the biggest food industry exhibition in the Baltic countries where food industry professionals from European Union and other countries meet every year to promote their businesses and learn about the latest developments in food and beverages production, processing, the latest technologies, packaging solutions, solutions from stores and public catering enterprises, hotel equipment and services, and to participate in the sector business forum and competitions for international food industry professionals. The exhibition gathers active food industry enterprises, governmental and public organizations.

Events for the professionals of the industry
Alongside the display of the “Riga Food 2010” participants, several events for the food industry business people and contests for the professionals of food industry will take place at the exhibition. Events held for professionals of the industry at the exhibition “Riga Food 2010” provide a successful platform to discuss and to resolve issues important for the food and drink market of Latvia. The exhibition “Riga Food 2010” also ensures dynamic environment for the meetings of potential cooperation partners.  
 

“Riga Food 2010” Meeting Point promotes international cooperation
In order to promote and develop cooperation of industry specialists between countries, during the exhibition the International Exhibition Company BT 1 in cooperation with “Diplomatic Economic Club” organizes the 11th international business forum of food industry “Riga Food 2010 Meeting Point”, in which the professionals of food industry from the Baltic States, the CIS and European countries will meet during presentations, in working groups, discussions and negotiations, related to the development of food industry and intergovernmental cooperation for development of the industry.
Business forum gathers business people and diplomatic trade and economic officials representing such countries as Austria, Belgium, Belarus, Holland, Italy, Kazakhstan, China, Lithuania, Poland, Estonia, Slovakia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, and Czech Republic, Sweden, Turkey and other countries.
Professionals contend for titles
Professionals of the food and beverage industry, the best cooks, pastry cooks, bartenders, and bartenders meet at “Riga Food” to prove their professional and creative skills and compete for the grand prix awards at different competitions.

In order to promote professional development of the cooks and pastry cooks of Latvia, experience exchange and mutual cooperation, during the exhibition “Riga Food 2010” the contests “The Best Cook of Latvia 2010” and “The Best Pastry Cook of Latvia 2010” will be held, organized by the “Chef’s Club” in cooperation with the International Exhibition Company BT 1.

For the third consecutive year “Riga Food 2010” will offer the international chefs competition Riga Open Culinary Cup, held by the “Chefs’ Club” in conjoint with International Exhibition Company BT 1 and Riga City Council.

At Table Design Competition taking place all exhibition days, restaurants, cafes, hotels, educational establishments and suppliers will present tables neatly laid and decorated to create a snug environment to enjoy superb meal. Visitors, on their turn, will vote for the most pleasurable table design.

Best food products and drinks will be evaluated
Continuing the traditions of “Riga Food”, this year during the exhibition will also take place the international competitions of food products and drinks, the purpose of which is to promote production of high quality goods and to offer them to consumers.

Retrospect on the previous exhibition
The 14th international food industry exhibition Riga Food 2009 gathered 528 participating companies from 36 countries. The exhibition also presented an abundant display of products and services in 18 national collective stands. Attendance figures reached 32,150 visitors. Registered trade and visitors represented 37 countries of the world.
The exposition was divided in thematic sectors. The widest representation was at the sector for general foods––Riga Food Regular Expo––301 companies. The sector for alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages Riga Food Drinks presented the products of 80 companies. The sector for food processing and manufacturing equipment, ingredients and supplements Riga Food Technology and Ingredients gathered 61 companies. 54 participants presented their products and services in the sector for public catering and trade equipment Riga Food Catering and Retail Tech, 31 participants at the packaging sector Riga Food Packaging Tech, 33 participants at the hotel equipment sector Riga Food Hotel Expo and 22 participants at Riga Food Clean Expo.

The Riga Food Speciality sector which focuses on healthy and functional foodstuffs presented 11 manufacturers and 5 importers from Latvia and an Italian company. 83 companies from 20 countries offered miscellaneous products and services. The new Riga Food Innovation sector managed to gather 25 participants––companies, educational institutions, research institutes and governmental bodies. *

The 15th international exhibition of food, beverages, food processing, technologies, packaging, catering, hotel and shop equipment, and services – “Riga Food 2010” – will take place on 8–11 September 2010 at the Kipsala International Exhibition Centre. “Riga Food 2010” will present a wide programme of supplementary events, demonstrations and competitions.
